Kumily Masjid Renovation

A working mosque reorganised for prayer and gathering, with detail that carries meaning.
Renovating a place of worship is as much about continuity as change. The existing masjid served its congregation but had grown constrained — circulation, daylight and the sense of arrival no longer matched the life of the community around it.
The design reorganises the interior around the act of prayer: clearer thresholds, an unobstructed hall, and a considered path from entry to prayer line. Symbolic detail — in the mihrab, the openings and the surface work — is kept precise rather than ornamental, so it reads as part of the architecture, not applied to it.
Light and proportion do most of the work. The renovated spaces hold a quiet, focused atmosphere for daily prayer and open comfortably for larger gatherings.
