The Axis House

A corner-plot home turned outward on two streets and inward toward light and air.

The site sits on a corner, exposed to the street on both its west and north edges. Two public faces usually mean a house that turns its back on one of them; here the brief was the opposite — to give the residence a clear identity from either approach without losing privacy inside.

The plan resolves this with two distinct elevations, each answering its own orientation. The west face is shaded and restrained against the afternoon sun; the north opens up to steady, even daylight. Between them, rooms are arranged so that circulation, ventilation and sightlines run along a single ordering axis — the move the house takes its name from.

The result reads as calm and deliberate from the road, while inside the day is measured out in moving light and cross-breezes, and living spaces stay in easy contact with the garden and sky. [CONFIRM — verify final materials and any published project details.]
